Devil's Cut: privacy policy

Last updated: 23 September 2026. Contact: lloydcorke@gmail.com.

Devil's Cut is a single-player card game with optional online features. It has no in-app purchases and no sign-up, and it doesn't ask for your name, email, location, contacts or any other personal information. On Android it can show an advert, but only when you ask for one (see Adverts below). The Windows version has no adverts.

What stays on your device

These never leave your device, except for the parts of a lost run described below, or if you copy a profile code yourself (Other Tables > Your Progress) to move your progress to another device: that code is made on your device, goes only to your clipboard, and goes wherever you paste it. We never see it.

What goes online, and why

The online features run on Unity Gaming Services, operated by Unity Technologies. To use them the game signs in anonymously: Unity creates a random player ID for this installation. No account, email or password is involved.

The world's Ledger (on by default; turn it off with SHARING on the Ledger screen). When a run ends in a loss, the game posts:

Other players see these entries: the game shows them on their Landings and in the world's Ledger. With sharing on, the game also signs in at launch to fetch other players' entries.

Online tables (Devil's Advocate and Round Table, only when you choose to play online). While you play, Unity Gaming Services relays the game between the players at the table. The table's name is made from your player name, and it's listed so others can join. The game sends only its moves and the players' names; there is no chat.

Unity Gaming Services processes connection data such as your IP address to provide these services. Unity's own privacy policy applies: unity.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Unity's hardware statistics are turned off in the game's settings. If a Unity licence ever forces them on, Unity may collect anonymous hardware information (such as the device model and graphics card).

Adverts (Android only)

On a Landing, the Android version offers a free restock of the Pawnbroker and the Scribe in return for watching an advert. An advert plays only when you tap that button; nothing plays on its own, and never during a hand.

Adverts are provided by Unity LevelPlay (Unity Technologies) and the ad networks it works with. To show adverts, measure them and prevent fraud, they collect your device's advertising ID, your IP address, device and app information (such as the model, operating system and language) and how you interact with the adverts.

The first time you tap the button, the game asks whether you want personalised adverts (chosen by your interests, using your advertising ID) or non-personalised ones. Until you answer, adverts are non-personalised. You can change your answer any time in OPTIONS > ADS. The game also tells the ad network that it isn't directed at children.

Unity's privacy policy applies to the data collected for adverts: https://unity.com/legal/privacy-policy

Deleting your data

Children

The game isn't directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at the same address, with a new date at the top.
